The B-Class Benz came in 2005 to sit between the C-Class and the smaller, now-departed, A-Class with which it shared a lot. The front-drive formula is the same, but there?s only a five-door and it?s generally bigger. A 2009 facelift added new options including ?Active? park assist. 1.7-litre and diesel and turbo 2.0-litre engines are offered ?? and there?s a choice of CVT, five or six-speed manual transmissions. The 80kW/250Nm B180 CDI delivers strong accelerator response with good fuel economy and comes with a full Benz grab bag of safety gear including stability control, eight airbags and active front headrests.
