Overview
Introduced in 2007, the Thai-built Mazda2 reflects Mazda's current ultra-wedge styling trend. The base model Neo is also the volume seller. All Mazda2s are powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder MZR petrol engine which develops 76kW/135Nm. Gearboxes are a five-speed manual or four-speed auto. These return 6.4 L/100km and 6.8L/100k respectively. Safety features include stability/traction control, plus driver and passenger airbags. Reflecting current trends, power steering and air-conditioning are standard. Recent models have also been graced with upgraded suspension for improved ride quality. Mazda also charges no extra for the range of Mica/Metallic body colours.
