The Kia Rio nameplate has been with us since 2000, when the Korean company offered a sedan and hatchback aimed at the light car class. Today's Rio has more power, space and refinement - with only a slight jacking up of the price. In sedan and hatch form, the current Rio arrived in 2005 and is spacious, nicely presented and quite punchy, even the 70kW/125Nm 1.4-litre engine in the base S hatch. Transmissions are a five-speed manual or a four-speed auto. All Rios come with dual airbags, air-conditioning and six-speaker CD audio.
