Citroen's C4 arrived in 2005 to redefine the company as a small-car competitor. The Peugeot 307-based C4 came in five-door hatch and two-door coupe form and wowed visitors to local motor shows with things like its fixed-hub steering wheel, central speedo and blatant Citroen style. The spacious C4 got a mini upgrade in March 2009, biggest news being the new BMW-developed 1.6-litre petrol engines shared with Mini and Peugeot. The 80kW/260Nm 1.6-litre turbo diesel drives through five-speed manual, or Citroen's EGS sequential automated manual six-speeder. Standard equipment includes six airbags, ABS, air-conditioning, trip computer and CD audio.
