Volkswagen's Ford Transit/Mercedes Sprinter challenger, the rear-drive Crafter van, comes with the choice of two wheelbases and three roof heights, as well as an extended-overhang version. Crafter cargo volume extends from nine cubic metres to - in super high-roof configuration - 17 cubic metres, and payload covers from 1.4 to three tonnes. Three five-cylinder 2.5-litre turbodiesels are available, producing 80kW/280Nm, 100kW/300Nm and 120kW/350Nm. All except the manual-only 120kW version offer six-speed manual or auto transmissions. Standard equipment includes stability and traction control, ABS, driver's airbag, air-conditioning, interior partition, with passenger, side and curtain airbags, and cruise control among the options.
