With the unfortunate experience of the first - excellent but overpriced - Micra well behind, Nissan now presents the latest-generation, one-model-only version. It looks a much better prospect with ultra-competitive pricing and equipment, and general cheeky charm. The five-door hatch comes in four-speed auto transmission form only, and sports a 72kW/137Nm 1.4-litre DOHC engine giving adequate performance. The on-road behaviour is balanced and predictable, with a comfortable ride. Dimensions are small, but the five-door packaging is quite generous and the interior bright and airy - as it should be. Dual front airbags, ABS braking, four-speaker CD audio, power windows and mirrors, and air-conditioning are standard.
