Nissan seems bent on not making waves with many of its latest releases. X-Trail, Murano and now, Maxima, succeed old models without dramatically changing the looks. But even though the latest Maxima could easily be mistaken for the last, it still looks contemporary. A new 2.5-litre V6 variant produces 134kW/228Nm for still-snappy performance and a 9.5l/100km average fuel figure. X-tronic CVT transmission is standard, as are stability and traction control and six airbags. Xenon headlights and 17-inch alloys are standard across the range.
