Overview
It may not be the Benz G-Wagon we knew in the 1980s, but there's no question that the latest GL is a serious machine. The massive GL is much less urban than the ML series. Chunkier looks, height-adjustable air suspension and standard Off-Road Pro package with permanent 4WD and two-speed transfer case all conspire to rough it up if you want. The GL comes with a 165kW/510Nm V6 turbo diesel or a petrol V8. It doesn't stint on safety or luxury with eight airbags, parking sensors, stability, traction and hill descent control, power front seats, 19-inch alloys, Bluetooth and six-CD audio.
