Citroen's C3 was introduced to Australia in 2002 as a purported spiritual reincarnation of the famous post-war 2CV. The distinctive, rounded C3 is light-car in size, dearer than Korean and Japanese contenders but quite substantial in feel and presentation. The five-door hatch is available in petrol or four-speed auto-only turbo diesel form - the latter gaining a substantial torque increase over the 1.6-litre petrol from 147 to 215Nm, although power drops to 66kW. Driveability is nevertheless improved and economy is among the best in the land at 4.4L/100km. Wheel size reduces to 15-inch alloys, but equipment otherwise duplicates Exclusive C3s.
