Beautifully maintained and low-kilometre Lotus Elise Series 2 with a wealth of intelligent mechanical upgrades.
If you have a hankering for one of the world’s most engaging and entertaining purist sports cars, my low-kilometre Lotus Elise S2 will fit the bill perfectly. I’m the second owner and both of us have taken exceptional care of this dynamic little sports car.
My Elise has a full service history, initially at a Lotus dealer and latterly at well-respected specialists. The new owner will be pleased to learn that the car has enjoyed a recent major service that included replacing the cylinder head gasket, the main area of concern with the K-series four-cylinder engine.
Also worth noting is that my Elise has never been tracked and has been garaged from 12,000km onwards (it’s only been rained on a handful of times!). It’s in outstanding condition.
Several important improvements have been made to this Lotus Elise to enhance the driving and ownership experiences. These upgrades include:
In 2025 it received a fully tested and reconditioned cylinder head with new hydraulic cam followers.
Also in 2025, it was treated to Elise Parts cooling system modifications; the thermostat was repositioned to reduce thermal shock on the warm-up cycle.
In 2021 the original brake discs were replaced with two-piece aluminium bells with grooved steel outers for better cooling and a 10kg weight saving.
New Mintex high-performance brake pads all-round.
Improved gear shifting thanks to an Elise Parts gear linkage kit – it replaces the original rubber bushes with Nylatron bushes and phosphor-bronze rod ends.
Aftermarket Larini stainless steel exhaust system for a fruitier exhaust note.
The Elise currently needs new tyres which I’m happy to fit – the new owner might have their own idea about tyre choice, so let’s talk.
If you’ve never driven a Lotus Elise Series 2, you’re in for a treat: all the great things you’ve read about this car are absolutely true. The connection between driver and machine is something extraordinary, born from the Elise’s extreme light weight and deliberate lack of power-assisted driving aids. And this particular example is one of the best you’re likely to encounter, especially in Australia.
In superb condition, sensibly upgraded and with very low mileage, this is a car that every red-blooded car enthusiast should own at least once in their life.
Only travelled 62561 km. Accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds!.
