Price is fixed at $800, no offers or turning up short on cash please. We have a better condition version of the same year listed, pay full asking price on that one and we'll throw in this one free as a spare for parts!!
Battery recently died, can still jump start
Probable engine problem, haven't investigated. Might be a good parts car, we have another which we can sell this with. PLEASE SEE OUR OTHER LISTING FOR AN EASIER BMW X5 TO REGISTER, OF THE SAME YEAR, THIS IS A GOOD CAR FOR PARTS TO BUNDLE WITH THAT ONE, initially this one was bought to move the towbar over to the other but this one was running ok so we used it as a daily driver for a year till the engine started having issues.
THIS ISN'T A GOOD CHEAP CAR TO REGISTER TO DRIVE UNLESS YOU PLAN TO WORK ON IT FIRST - we haven't had a quote to register it or had it investgated, please don't ask how much to register. No one has yet come to see the car but we've had dozens of enquiries asking how much it costs to register.
Lately front door handel have both broken, one inner door cover removed - that was becasue one window support broke, battery isn't taking a charge either, can be turned on with a jumpstart.
Currently UnRegistered, has a towbar, runs ok, but is leaking oil, oil leak seems quite bad, I don't want to fix it because this car seemed to have a blown head gasket In Sept 2022. Water seemed to be leaking into the oil. I put in a head gasket sealer, and changed the oil 3 times to make sure it was clean, and the water hasn't needed topping up since so seemed it completely sealed it for 14 months now. But over the past three months it seems to have started leaking oil, I haven't investigated where from yet, a BMW shop said the rocker covers are plastic and can crack.
Engine was always a bit noisy since I got it, think its guide rails are worn.
Might suit an enthusiest who wants to work on it, or for parts. It used to be running lean on startup for the first 30-120 seconds, which was making it trip into trans failsafe mode when it first got to 3rd gear, I got a new MAFS which seems to have sorted that out. (I've had two of these BMW's with this lean issue but the other didn't go to Trans failsafe mode - seems if these cars sense any issues they will do that as their limp mode, turning this one off and on would usually remove it, then I started driving slowly through the first 2-3 gear change, but now with the new MAFS it seems to be resolved)
Media system screen display used to have dots now it seems to have failed, radio still works.
Also the inside of the driver door is currently off, I'm half way through a repair on the window support, the window works as long as you don't go down all the way, the parts are here to put a new support under the window just haven't figured out how to get the window plastic support out and in to put it back together at the moment.
That's all I can think of about this car, trying to detail all issues as I want any buyer to be fully informed. (see the other listing for an unregistered X5 with less issues)
