My CLK has been sitting as a second car for three years. Prior to that it was my daily drive, but since then has been spending more and more time kerbside, particularly since getting myself an EV last year.
There's is still a fantastic feel of class and nostalgia driving this car, and the 4 3L V8 adds that extra bit of joy to the drive
I am not a heavy footed driver, and regular trips between Canberra and Sydney consumed 7.5 to 8.0 litres per 100 kilometres using cruise control set to 115kph.
All services and maintenance were done at Anthony Costello in Canberra, and it is still a nice solid car on the road, and feels nice to drive.
At this price it is not in immaculate condition, and shows all the signs of an everyday driven car, with blemishes and cosmetic wear and tear.
My first thoughts for this car was to keep as a second "fun" car, and start repairing features that had become sub par, but with the new EV I realise I will probably never do this.
Items that were on my radar are
● replace air-conditioning compressor and regas.
● repair or replace roof canvas. There is a repair from a previous owner, and the side seams need regluing.
● repair the roof retract. The last stage needs to be manually completed to put the roof down. It does still fully close. Spending time not being used does the roof hydraulics no favours.
● repair paint blemishes on front bumper.
● replace front seats if the opportunity arises. I have covered them with lambswool and completely forget about the pulled stitches.
● replace the key fobs. They show all the signs of many presses.
● Replace the console cup holder.
Current rego until September 2025.
