2001 Maserati 3200GT. Desirable automatic transmission. One of only 2689 produced, and even rarer in RHD specification. This car is in excellent condition throughout.
An excellent example of an Australian delivered, one owner Maserati 3200GT. Delivered new by Lance Dixon in Victoria the car has subsequently spent the majority of its life in Western Australia being cared for by a discerning owner. The car comes with full service history from new and has been impeccably maintained.
Finished in Grigio Touring with Blue leather seats and dark Grey pipping and dashboard it makes for a very elegant colour combination.
Recent work includes the major timing belt service and water pump so the car is ready to be enjoyed by the next owner.
The 3200GT was the first model produced under the Ferrari/Maserati collaboration which saw build quality and reliability reach all time highs. Drop dead gorgeous styling by Giugiaro and limited production numbers ensure that the 3200GT is a model to watch and future classic in the making. With recent price rises of all classic V8 engined Maseratis - the 3200GT is on the list for all serious collectors and now is the time to buy.
Maserati's return to form - just as with the Ghibli, Bora and Merak before, Giorgetto Giugiaro did a teriffic job with the design of the Maserati 3200 GT, distinguished by its signature and ultra-cool boomerang taillights.
The 3200 GT was announced in July 1998 and was presented to the press in September by Luca di Montezemolo, in the presence of veteran Maserati racing driver Sir Stirling Moss and Giorgetto Giugiaro.[ The car made its public debut at the October 1998 Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris.
Maserati initially wanted to name the car "Mistral" but after discovering that Volkswagen owned the copyrights to the name, decided to name the car 3200 GT. Its name honoured the 3500 GT, the company's first series production grand tourer. Sold mainly in Europe, the 3200 GT was powered by the twin-turbocharged, 32-valve, dual overhead cam 3.2-litre V8 engine featured in the Quattroporte Evoluzione, rated at 370 PS (272 kW; 365 hp) against the Quattroporte's 335 PS (246 kW; 330 hp) and achieved 116 PS (85 kW; 114 hp) per litre. The manual transmission model was produced until 2001.
The tail-lights consisted of LEDs arranged in the shape of a boomerang. The outer layer of the 'boomerang' provided the brake light, with the inner layer providing the directional indicator. This was the world's first car with LED taillights. Deliveries started in March 1999. In total 2,689 manual GT models were produced and 2106 automatic GT models. Destined to be a future classic - now is the time to buy.
