I have had every tyre kicked, a lot of chin scratching, some great stories and by far quite a bit of fun chatting to those who have made an enquiry. She sold locally to a R/E Agent, who now has baby three on the way so i took her back as he sold our house. I took her out two days ago to drive down to the farm where we have retired, we had a beautiful fine day, as soon as you get in and you hear that little burble as she fires up, a smile appears. But as far as getting to the farm, will never happen as the bitumen runs out 10 minutes from the freeway.
Even at her age she embarrases many who come up to look/challenge :), because any push of the right foot, slams you into the seat and you are surrounded by that beautiful Euro V8 scream. She is very quick.
Had a great run with a new Jag coupe and a very funny conversation as we came to the lights, something like 1999 and still has that 'it' factor, so enough guff, it is a great car and yes previously i was being adventurous in asking top dollar, at 90k but in hindsight it was a message to 'the leader of the opposition', that i really don't want to sell her, but alas i actually do have to. I cannot swing a cat in here and other prizes have been found.
So, all who have looked, saved or shown some interest, she is now reduced to 60k as i have just bought a very rare X5M .
As described, an honest fast, comfortable Grand Tourer that can only appreciate in time. I can help with transport if required. Thanks for dropping in :) Now the guff bit :)
Last build of the iconic 8 Series BMW, this is a genuine two owner car that has been in storage in WA since 2007 and only done 7000 miles whilst in this ownership, just clicked 54000 miles oils changed every six months and run once a month on the road, it has NEVER seen rain and is a completely rust free car. Every car i looked at when purchased (and i looked at heaps) I had inspected by one of the countries BMW boffins and even had them Xrayed, using the 'Backscatter' method for hidden issues, none were found here and so she became mine. The first, and only owner prior to me had bought her new and is a genuine one of one, there is no other with this color combination. Of course the original books and re rust treated upon delivery with underbody rust preventative and ceramic coated, re done this year. To my surprise she was built as an M Sport, which only 1999 delivered cars recieved as an option.
Very regretful sale, but it is time for her to go to a fanatic, or someone who loves to feel what a Billion dollar car can do.
The development of the original BMW 8 Series (E31 generation, which included the 840Ci) in the 1990s was a massive undertaking, with reported development costs exceeding $1 billion. Key details regarding the development and cost of the 8 Series high development cost was driven by the extensive use of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and wind tunnel technology. The 840Ci Sport featured a lowered M Sport suspension (15mm lower).
She has won numerous awards and even the coveted Unique Cars, 'Car of the Month', you can balance a one dollar coin on the engine, fitted with a cold air intake, but the original is included
She has the optional roof racks and the ski bag in the boot, full set of tools and still has the original BMW torch in the glovebox. Throwing star wheels including the original spare.
Do not miss out on what is most likely the lowest mileage car and in almost showroom condition. She is not concourse, but not far from it and will only appreciate in time. Personally maintained by a career BMW mechanic who has looked after her as if he owns her
