Nice example of an original E39 540i with full books and service history, that I bought about 5 years ago to freshen up for my son (was going to put the M5 front and rear bumpers, exhaust, and fix a couple of things).
We never got around to it and he's gone to live in QLD now, so unfortunately it's time to let it go.
The Good:
- V8 4.4L, rear wheel drive, stylish, luxury.
- Original, clean and solid car. No leaks, no lights on dash. Still has the original phone in the centre console (could be retro fitted which would be cool)
- Starts, runs and drives. All electrics work. Interior in great condition for age.
- Bought from 2nd owner who maintained it religiously - got all the books and full service history up to it's last service at 269,000kms in 2016 - it had 290k when I picked it up and it's got 290k now. I serviced it a few years ago.
- Ready for Club Rego.
The Bad:
- Got some clunks coming from the front end - needs new bushings and possibly new shocks.
- The above would be an easy fix for a home mechanic with a press or shouldn't be too expensive to get done at a shop, but it does mean the car isn't really drivable at the moment and would need to be picked up on a trailer.
- Some dints and some scratches - close ups of the worst bits, but overall the car presents really well.
- Needs a new battery. Got my Landcruiser battery in it at the moment that can be used to start it and test it.
The car does have a few things that need fixing in order to get it back in top shape, but it has been priced accordingly.
