BLURB BY OWNER: The wife and I purchased this October 1997 build 40th Anniversary (Petrol) Landcruiser from a gentleman in his 70's who lived up at Maleny on the Sunshine Coast. We actually purchased the car from him in January 2022. Like many 80 Series, the paint was faded and the clear coat not in good shape so we decided to respray the car in Toyota's classic colour "Sandy Taupe". Original colour was a light silver. Please note the following:
* Engine replaced May 2021. (Have receipt)
* Respray was done by Auto Emporium in Caloundra.($17K)
* It was a closed door respray however it went further than just that. The actual job was more like a hybrid spray, between a closed door and full respray.
* Toyota factory bullbar removed & powdercoated black.
* Toyota factory sidesteps removed & powdercoated black.
* 4x driving wheels came off and were prepared and powdercoated black. (Spare rim underneath car is the Toyota factory alloy in colour)
* Rear bar came off and was powdercoated black and rear bumper corner guards resprayed.
* New windscreen installed.
* Rear tailgate window came out for painting and reinstalled.
* All chrome trims, factory wheel arch flares and badging came off for respray.
* Underbody cleaned, prepared and painted black for protection.
* This car is extremely tidy and unmolested. No lazy tek screw fixings and shoddy items being screwed onto the body or interior.
* Car is original, but with a 2022 paint upgrade and clear wrap protection.
* Many cars are advertised as being in good original condition. This goes better having been
professionally resprayed.
* Following respray in June-July 2022 we had the entire car clear wrapped by Wrap Masters in Warana on the Sunshine Coast.
* We went in all the way in terms of not thinking of budget and had Wrap Masters use their best product, Full Xpel Paint Protection Film, at a cost of $8500.
* Car thus has new paint and clear film protection over. Full Xpel Paint Protection Film has a 10 year warranty.
* We bought car as stock-standard. I hate to use the term "Grandpa Spec, but this is what comes to mind.
* Examples of being "Grandpa Spec" is the car had no brake controller or electric brakes ever installed. The towbar was incomplete, and it took many months to get the correct Hayman Reese receiver with DO35 hitch to fit the towbar originally installed when the car was new.
* No winch either; another reason we bought the car meaning it had not been flogged 4wding.
* Car is rated for 3.5T towing. The last generation of 80 Series in 1997, even the petrol models, were rated at 3.5T's because of brake and suspension upgrades according to Toyota.
* We installed a brand new headunit and got rid of the original cassette / cd radio.
* Headunit also has a hands-free unit for making and receiving phone calls.
* Reversing camera installed when new headunit was installed.
* New LED circular headlights, and all of the other lights were tinted a light grey / black. (Taillights etc.)
* Interior in very good condition.
* Seatcovers are from Coverworld, Sunshine Coast, and are made using the same material as wetsuits. (High quality handmade neoprene covers) Brand is "The Wetseat".
*There is a lot more to say about this car. I'm going to let the photos do it justice, hence if you have any specific questions please call or email.
* This is an iconic car brought back to life. Out of all the drives the car goes on, 95% of these I'll get a thumbs-up or wave from a passerby or people literally stopping me at the servo and / or traffic lights for a chat. It is a beautiful car which we have babied and poured a good deal of time and love into.
* Suspension, brakes, power steering all upgraded August 2023.
* 330,000 kms on the clock
* $8K spent on motor mid-2021.
* Series buyers only please. The selling price of this 80 Series reflects what it to took us to look shmick.
* We are selling to put money into our house and get teenage boys downstairs to save our sanity.
