Prepare yourselves, it's wordy.
Up for sale is my BMW E34 540i. Selling because I don't have the space to look after it at this point in my life. I have owned E34s since I could start driving and unfortunately it's time to move onto newer and more boring things.
I have known this car for 17 years and have owned it for 10.
The car was manual converted in 2014 or 2015 by the previous owner who I know. Using genuine BMW parts, the gearbox came from an E39.
From my understanding it has had 7 owners and began its life as a BMW Australia car. From there it was sold to someone rural then made it's way back to Melbourne and has been in my friendship group for the last 17 years. 4 of my friends have owned this vehicle, have cared for and looked after it over all this time.
I have since been looking after it the best I can with no expense spared. Yes it is a high km example but anything major that needed to be done at the time was attended to. It's not what you'd call a minter and there are wear and tear items (as pictured), it is an old car and I have tried to keep up with it as much as possible. It is a good driver condition and currently my daily driver.
I thought I was going to keep it forever so I don't have all of the receipts but have scraped together what I can find.
Over the years of ownership, I have had repaired or replaced:
-Control arms about 30,000kms ago and all tie rods around 20,000kms ago.
-front shocks are koni adjustable around 10,000kms ago.
-brand new old stock steering box 25,000kms ago
-Differential seals
-Rocker cover gaskets and sump gasket 20,000kms ago
-All four wheel bearings
-Centre support bearing
-Windscreen
-Full closed door respray
-4 sets of tyres, Continental and now Michelins
-AC working again
-Engine mounts
-Gearbox mounts
-All four brake rotors and pads were done around 20,000kms ago.
-Coolant expansion tank 50,000kms ago
-Brand new heater core has been replaced as of 12/05/2026
-oil service with brake fluid and air filter has recently been completed 12/05/2026
There is more but can't remember everything. All work has been carried out by Worx Automotive, Melbourne BMW, Northern BM, West Prestige and BM Works using genuine BMW parts as much as possible, if not, OEM manufacturer supplier parts.
As mentioned earlier, it isn't a perfect car but a good driver condition. In the interest of full transparency, here are the imperfections. The style 5s are all marked from a tyre shop's clamps when getting a set put on. There is minor curb rash on a couple wheels. I do have an unpainted set of style 32s lying around also. There are stone chips on the front end. The door weatherseals, particularly the rear doors have shrunk. Bonnet shocks and boot struts need replacing.
Moving onto the good stuff on the vehicle:
-Manual conversion
-LSD (from a 750i I believe)
-18" Style 5 wheels in Michelin PS5 front & PS4 rear (PS4s were on their way out when getting two new tyres)
-Eibach springs front & rear, Koni front shocks Bilstein rear shocks. (Konis were readily available at the time and have the same dampening rate as Bilsteins, but it usually isn't my style to mismatch things like that)
-Genuine brand new old stock AC Schnitzer front apron
-Full electric front sports seats, drivers side memory
-M5 4 seat conversion rear seats
-Full sunblind set, rear, and door blinds (I have 4 quarter blinds and of the 4 you should be able to make one good pair)
-Phillips HID Headlight kit
I will be sad to see it go, it has been a big part of my life for a long time. I have looked after it and it has looked after me. I want to have the conversation and negotiation with someone who knows what these cars are about, an enthusiast, someone who will make it super mint or someone who will just enjoy and look after it.
Car will come with RWC, registration & a few parts that have been lying around ie: bnib black M5 boot garnish, extra sun blinds, etc.
