A fabulous project is now complete. Bought a number of years ago from a very fastidious first owner, the car presented very well but had scope to become what it is now, which is likely the very best first gen Magna in Australia. With over $16,000 in receipts for work completed, this car was never destined to be a money maker. Instead, it was a project which allowed me to relive my childhood of learning to drive on one of these.
It has had less than 1000klms ago, amongst other things, a recently rebuilt engine, a rebuilt gearbox, new exhaust, new brakes, new Aircond, new tyres, and new roof lining. The already immaculate body work was improved to perfection by a ceramic coat and the alloy wheels were machined and refurbished to new standard. Interior was excellent but was professionally steam cleaned and the few blemishes were removed.
Everything works on the car. As an example of the attention to detail, the rear tailgate handle was cracked and a new old stock one was sourced to replace it. This car is a time warp. Every time I drive it I'm 17 again and Roxette, Madonna and the Bangles are fighting it out on the charts.
Now for the tough bit. Please don't bother me with low ball offers. I already have a back up plan which is donating it the National Motoring Museum in Adelaide if I can't find the right buyer for it. Look forward to hearing from you if you're keen and willing to pay the price of admission. It's expensive for a Magna, it's cheap for a time machine.
