This Toyota Landcruiser is an ex-NSW Rural Fire service vehicle. It sports the original RFS livery on the passenger door from its brigade in Springvale/Huntley. The vehicle was imported to WA by a business in Kalgoorlie that converts ex-government vehicles into vehicles for underground mine use. Yet to be converted I purchased it from the business in Kalgoorlie in 2021 with 23,331 original kilometres. The vehicle was then freighted to Perth where it underwent a refit to make it more practical for regular use.
The original fire pump body (ute tray) was sold and swapped for a custom-built, colour-matched tray from TL Engineering. The suspension was completely overhauled with a 2-inch Tough Dog lift, Airbag Man rear firestone air bags and Terrain Tamer steering linkages. The front-end swivel hubs and wheel bearings were also rebuilt at this time using Terrain Tamer parts. This new suspension was complemented Falkan Wildpeak all-terrain tyres and new rims that were matched to the factory diameter to ensure the speedometer read true.
The existing bull bar was replaced for an ARB deluxe winch bar which houses an Oricom UHF Antennae and Narva Driving lights. The cooling system, a common weak point for the 2H motor, was entirely rebuilt with the disassembly and refurbishment of the original copper brass radiator, new Toyota genuine water pump, Terrain Tamer hoses, genuine belts, thermostat, gaskets and pressure cap. For constant monitoring of the engine temperature a temperature sensor and alarm was installed that alerts you should the engine overheat (Haven’t heard it yet).
The clutch was the original asbestos fibre clutch and was replaced with an Exedy heavy duty clutch with a genuine Toyota rear main seal fitted at the same time. The clutch main and slave cylinders and associated hoses were also replaced. The roof was suffering from a poorly waterproofed antennae hole and was professionally fixed and resprayed in the original white and then dyna-matted, reupholstered and reinstalled with Toyota genuine seals. The fuelling system has had a secondary Delphi/CAV filter installed from its original fit out as a fire ute.
The braking system left something to be desired and had nearly every component replaced in 2023 with the exception of the front brake calipers which were found to be in good condition and the rear brake drums. This included a Toyota Genuine brake booster and LSPV which was adjusted to correctly to account for the suspension lift, braided stainless steel brake lines from Hel and an aftermarket brake master cylinder (genuine no longer available).
Other improvements include a dual battery system with a Redarc isolator that has power to the tray and a jump-starting switch, bonnet protector, undertray tool boxes, rated front recovery points, non-slip rubber matting for the tray, dash mat, Supa-Fit seat covers, Alpine Sound System, steering wheel cover, Manta 2.5 inch stainless steel exhaust, tinted windows and towbar.
Since purchase this Landcruiser has been meticulously serviced every 5,000 kms with new oil and filter, greasing of linkages and tie rod ends and cleaning of the air filter element. Gear box, driveline and all other fluids have been changed every 30,000kms, often earlier. Bearings have also been adjusted regularly and repacked every 20,000 kms. Work listed above isn’t everything done but is the most notable. Receipts are available for work done on vehicle.
The Landcruiser comes with a large array of genuine and aftermarket spares and a PDF copy of the original Toyota Factory Engine and Body Manual. The drivers’ key is the original Toyota factory key. The vehicle also comes with the correct Toyota tool bag, tools, jack and owners-manual. A set of split rim tyres are included with the vehicle.
The condition of this Landcruiser has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Vehicle located in Subiaco and can be viewed on weekends. Can assist buyers with interstate shipping.
