This 1986 Lamborghini Jalpa is a rare find on the open market, but Australian-delivered examples in this kind of condition are even harder to come by.
Power is derived from a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V8 engine which outputs 190kW and 305Nm. The transmission in this car is a five-speed manual gearbox.
This car’s odometer currently displays 63,014km. One of the Italian marque’s lesser-known models, the Jalpa is now coming back into the limelight offering affordable Lamborghini ownership and eye-catching Bertone design. Following on from the Lamborghini Silhouette from the late 1970s, the Jalpa was an entry-level car in Lamborghini’s range and utilised a V8 engine under its rear cowl.
While it didn’t provide the same antics as the V12-powered Countach, the Jalpa was easier to drive in terms of visibility and was far more approachable for low-speed operation. That said, it still provided explosive performance which rivalled Ferrari’s mid-engined 328 at the time. With Countach prices continuing to increase on the used market, it’s a good time to consider its Jalpa stablemate. Its unique Lambo styling, relative rarity, and V8 powertrain are all the right ingredients for a future classic. This Jalpa’s striking colour combination pairs red exterior paintwork with a white leather interior for an all-round desirable specification. Being a late model Jalpa, this car specifies body-coloured intakes and engine cover for a cohesive look, while the cabin features contrast red piping around the leather seats.
Though the option of a Countach-style rear wing was offered from factory, this car goes without. There are no aftermarket modifications made to this car’s original condition. It rides on a set of 16-inch OZ Lamborghini wheels. Manufactured by Lamborghini in Santa’Agata Bolognese, Italy, this Jalpa was Australian-delivered through Oxford Allenby Motors in Western Australia. It now stands as a four-owner car and has seen regular servicing throughout its life. This has been performed by a series of official Lamborghini outlets as well as specialist independents
Notable Lamborghini mechanic Paul Placzek has done recent work on the car. It is now said to run in good working order. Presentation of the exterior body is shown to a very high standard overall – this car has been repainted throughout its life. The red paintwork displays glossy reflections in the light, while black-painted bumpers and trims show without noticeable tarnishing. Subtle chipping and scuffs can be seen on the underside of the front bumper which is as expected for low-slung exotic sports cars. All wheels display without kerb rash damage, as tyres appear with deep tread remaining.
BM Leather Creations & Melbourne Auto Upholstery have recently gone through this Jalpa’s cabin to refurbish the interior upholstery and trims. Now, the white leather seats show in great condition without noticeable stains or scuffs, and carpeting appears to be unmarked. Elements of the dash and steering wheel contain light patina marks, as expected with age. All accompanying original documentation as well as recent maintenance receipts will be provided with this car.
