I personally imported this stunning vehicle to Australia from South Africa, a little over four years ago. Since then, it has been my pride and joy. I have pampered her and maintained her with a blank cheque approach. She has rewarded me with many miles of reliable, exhilarating adventure. Sadly, it’s time to pass her on to her next lucky custodian.
If you’re here with serious intent, you don’t need to have the history, the mythology, and the notoriety of the Porsche 930 Turbo rammed down your throat yet again. Yes, it’s legendary, and rightly so. I’ve owned a bunch of Stuttgart masterpieces and nothing has come close for aura, drama and the passion the 930 evokes.
This example was born wearing that 70s brown that some people love, but most people hate. A previous owner made the very wise decision to lovingly take her back to bare metal and give her a spectacular rotisserie paint job in Guards Red (L027/LM3A) – the most “iconic” 930 colour of them all. And she wears it with pride. As a result, the paint is fresh, lustrous and near immaculate.
The car has a few tasteful performance mods (that are reversible). The turbo has been upgraded to a slightly larger PRECISION unit, with intercooler to accommodate. It’s running the standard, modest boost. This ensures the storied lag remains while the kick in the butt is slightly amplified.
Elephant Racing fully adjustable anti-sway bars are fitted fore and aft. This is without doubt one of the most rewarding mods that can be made to a 930. (Original sway bars provided.)
The interior envelopes you with sumptuous “supple” black leather, all round. You’re greeted with its indulgent leathery scent every time you get behind the wheel. Lovely period footwell mats carry a hint of red into the cabin.
The engine is fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system. Its growl is somewhat intimidating on startup. It mellows and the sounds of the engine’s internal machinery becomes most salient. Once rolling, and the RPMs begin approaching 3k, the whistle of the turbo beginning to spool is intoxicating. At 4k RPM, the boost kicks in and it is pure theatre. Life is good.
Out on the twisties you feel the results that have been achieved by fitting the Elephant Racing system. She turns in sharp. Zero float in the rear. Confidence inspiring. Confidence enhanced by the wearing of fresh Pirellis, as specced by Porsche, on factory Fuchs.
You can now feel how wondrous the four speed transmission truely is. Tall gears that allow you to feel the turbo come alive and stay on boost for bursts without requiring quick changes. The gobs of torque make every gear feel natural. The box shifts precisely and satisfyingly.
The car is fully documented. You’ll find the original user manual, dealer delivery info, service stamps from new, and an impressive folder of maintenance records.
This completely sorted example will reward her next owner with incredible reliability, stunning physical interior and exterior condition, and a few tweaks to ensure she delivers driving thrills.
To many, the 930 is the pinnacle. A dream car. However, please don’t call if you’re just having a day dream.

Wow, we made it the end without saying “widow maker."
