Love the classic 80s Japanese style but want a reliable, torquey cruiser with an automatic transmission, this is the car.
Up for sale is my unique 1981 Mazda RX-7 Series 2. The original rotary engine has been replaced with a Buick 3.8L V6, making it a strong and easy-to-maintain weekend car.
I've owned it for nearly 10 years, but life changes! We've since had 3 kids, and a 2-seater sports car just isn't practical for the family. It spends its life sitting in the garage, so it's time for someone else to get it back on the road and enjoy it.
Positives:
*Engine: Buick 3.8L V6. Starts and runs rich.
*Transmission: Automatic transmission to suit the V6 conversion.
*Steering: Upgraded to a power steering rack (I believe from a Holden Commodore).
*Exhaust: Has been modified with a custom exhaust to suit the engine.
*Suspension: Has aftermarket suspension .
*Wheels: Sits on black 18" Mc Racing wheels which suit the car well.
*Paint & Body: The car was resprayed in its original white at some point. It presents well after a good wash and polish, and the black trim is in good condition.
*Engineering: Comes with engineering certificates (dated 2006) for the engine conversion and other modifications..
Negative:
*This is not a perfect show car. It's decent 40+ year old car. There are imperfections from age, as you would expect.
*The interior seats are ripped and would need to be re-trimmed or replaced. The overall condition of the interior is decent for the age of the car.
*The car is currently unregistered as it hasn't been driven for years. With the engineering certificates, I don't believe getting a blue slip will be difficult for the new owner.
Important - Please Read:
*The car is being sold as is.
*As the car is unregistered, there will be no test drives. You are welcome to inspect it thoroughly and I can start it and run it for you.
*The buyer will need to bring a trailer for pickup.
*I am happy for you to arrange a mobile mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection (at your cost). All I ask is that I get a copy of the report.
I'm in no rush to sell, low offers will be ignored. That being said, first to see with the money will buy. No swaps.
Happy to answer any genuine questions. Please message/call me to arrange a time for an inspection.
