Price reduction, now $35,000.
The Lancia Beta Spyder was designed by Pininfarina but actually built by Zagato with a 2+2 seating arrangement. This ’81 Series 2 Spyder was imported from South Africa in 2024 after being partially restored in Johannesburg. The engine was fully reconditioned there by a highly qualified Italian car mechanic. Cylinder head, carburettors, cooling system, brakes, suspension, steering and exhaust - all attended to.
After arrival in Melbourne, the Spyder underwent a complete respray (doors off) and any rust was repaired. A new windscreen was also fitted.
The bodywork is in optimum condition with flawless paintwork, all panels fit neatly, especially the doors. Chrome and plastic parts are also in top condition and the car stands on original wheels. The car looks magnificent in Rosso Corsa. The targa roof and the rear convertible top is pure Zagato so the Beta Spyder makes a very fresh impression.
Interior is clean and tidy, all original with only a hand stitched steering wheel as a mod. Original tools, Lancia mats and a half-body sunshade included. A new soft-top clear recently fitted.
In excess of $60,000 spent on this car!
The Spyder has a willing 2L DOHC engine, five-speed gearbox, rack and pinion steering, fully independent suspension (MacPherson struts both front and rear) and disc brakes on all four wheels. Recently serviced by Hobart’s classic specialist, David Short Automotive.
The Spyder is a delight to drive, performance is characterised by quick throttle response and smooth, instant power in the mid range.
An Italian Targa topped sports car with a brilliant heritage and history behind it, what’s not to like?
