This is a very rare car in excellant condition. The previous restorer of the car described as : "A one off. Nothing like it anywhere in the world."
The previous owner spent approximately $ 60,000.00 on the following items:
A. as the original XJC cars lacked body rigidity, the original sills were removed and replaced with re engineered sills to give the car proper rigidity;
B. the rear end was rebuilt by Vic Spiteri;
C. a four speed jag gearbox with overdrive was sourced and rebuilt by a gear box specialist in Sydney;
D. the original engine was replaced with the later HE engine. The top end of the engine was rebuilt;
E. a D-Jetonic fuel injection was fitted to the engine;
F. the car was stripped to the bare metal and repainted; and
G. a lightened flywheel was fitted.
In the time I have owed the car I have:
1. rebuilt the front and rear suspension;
2.repainted the exterior of the car;
3.reconditioned the interior of the car by recovering the seats as original, replacing the carpets as original and replacing the head lining as original;
4.reconditioned the alloy wheels by having them diamond polished;
5.purchased new white wall tyres; and
6.installed a modern, but period correct looking, radio/cassette player.
With the four speed, overdrive manual gear box - the car is a delight to drive.
