It was built as a code 48 Rallye Pack.
A Mk I Sundowner before they were called Sundowners on the MkII escorts.
The Shannon’s insurance members area is the only place I’ve seen with article explaining the Rallye Pack option.
I heard in NZ they called it the “Little Ripper”.
Previous owner who owned for 25 years put this engine in:
(May2005, at 328 953kms with “approx 48 000k’s on it”, so now approx 75 600k’s),
lumpy camm, ported heads, bigger stainless steel valves, Pertronics electronic ignition.
Lightened flywheel with Capri clutch and quick shift. Radiator from 2 litre Cortina.
2019 he had the Ratted paint job done & clear coated, new carpet, retrimmed & bolstered tilting seats, new pedders shocks x4, rear axle bearings, window tinting, new front/back/side glass rubbers.
July2020 - bought by me from Adelaide. ( a few k’s from where it sold new)
Dec2020 - Installed Holly Sniper EFI system ect, new coil / plugs / leads.
June2021 - Fitted 7 inch Cheviot Hotwires & New tyres 215 /50 R13
Sep2021 - Gearbox oil & diff oil replaced. (old oil looked ok)
Sep2022 - Rear leaf springs rebuilt, new sway bar bush kit
Mar2023 - Dyno tune Holly Sniper, Ceramic coat headers, replaced thermostat & gasket,
replaced intake, exhaust & flange gaskets.
May2024 - New battery fitted
Aug2024 - most recent Engine oil & filter change. (changed 5 times in 6 years / 3 600 kms owned by me)
Oct2024 - Reconditioned English axle diff fitted with new 3:54 gears
Feb2026 - New quick shift gearbox lever fitted, new diff front seal & oil, Steering rack rebuilt & new mount bushes, new Steering coupling.
Bad points:
Fuel gauge is inaccurate, reading low.
I have removed the old carpet head lining, & is currently bare metal.
A couple of little fiberglass patches on the passenger floor. (done by previous!?)
The body is Rat Rod rough, coated surface rust of course, but no bad bubbling rust.

The wife is buying her dream car, so little Pano is regrettably up for sale.
This is such a fun car to drive. Cammy engine, nice exhaust note, low speed high thrills…
