AMC AMX 1974 Javelin. manual 4 speed. Resto Mod. Imported from Canada in 2021.
Engine: 401 CI bored out 0.40 to 409 CI. Comp XE274 Cam. Edelbrock aluminium heads. Scorpion roller rockers. Restricted flow pushrods. Speed Pro 10:1 forged pistons. Edelbrock air gap intake. Custom valve covers. Canton 8 litre baffle sump. Bulltear serpentine belt system. March billet power steering pump. Flowmaster ceramic coated headers with twin Flowmaster exhaust system.
Fuel and timing control is via the MSD Atomic 1 fuel injection system with Aeromotive Phantom in tank fuel pump. MSD billet distributor with extra large gap MSD 6a ignition box. 90 litre fuel tank. Aluminium radiator with twin electric cooling fans.
Gearbox: Borg Warner T10 2.64 first gear ratio rebuilt with brushed 1st gear and hardened output shaft mods. Gear Vendors unit installed behind the T10 making the box an 8 speed. AMC 20 differential has forged Moser axles, welded tubes & perches, two piece style rebuilt posi-traction & 3.54 gears. Caltracs by Claver Racing installed on the rear end. Front end is Control Freak independent suspension with Flaming River power rack & pinion steering. Front brakes are Willwood discs.
Interior: All gauges are custom made by Speedhut & feature min/max warning lights. Guages monitor fuel, voltage, temp, oil pressure, vacuum, air/fuel ratio, engine oil temp, clock, tach with lights and road speed. Speedometer is GPS driven and features trip, elevation direction, peak speed 0 to 100 & quarter mile time. Rear view mirror has built in compass & outside temp display.
Seats are electric powered fronts & custom covered front and back. Interior including dash has been renewed and new carpet on the floor. Retractable seat belts installed in all seating positions. Tilt steering column. Momo steering wheel.
Airconditioning is a Vintage Air, Dakota Digital. Automatic climate controlled system integrated into the dash. Rear window has a fan demister. Interior & main headlights converted to LED. Audio is a JVC 4 speaker system with Sub Woofer installed in the boot.
Wheels are US Mag Bandit style. Tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 4 225/45 ZR 18 front & 245/45 ZR 18 rear.
It is a blast to drive on the highway and rides and corners with precision. Also I have in my possession many photos and receipts of the car during the rebuild. Plus receipts of what I have spent on maintenance.
By the way the vehicle colour is Wild Plum which is a factory colour. Also 2 sets of keys for the ignition and boot.
Just to add. The AMX was judged the best interior in the Edmonton World of Wheels in 2018. Plus was placed 2nd in class at the World of Wheels in Calgary Canada.
To my knowledge Javelin AMX's were not imported nor built in Australia. It took me a long time to find this one that had been restored with newer running gear while keeping the exterior shape and sound. Which is what attracted me from a very early age to the Javelin in the first place. Growing up my family had Ramblers hence the attraction.
