Comments from the dealer

1973 350 GTS HQ Monaro. A super rare and unique SPECIAL ORDER HQ GTS MONARO Coupe in Contessa Gold, built for Mr Max Wilson, 1970s GMH Director of Asia Pacific. Built as a special order for Mr Wilson, the car was painted in the then experimental HJ colour of Contessa Gold and further enhanced by the GMH styling studios and Engineering Departments. The 350 V8 was removed and fitted to Maxs first Estoril Bronze Metallic HQ Coupe and the 400ci Olds V8 engine from that car was fitted to this car. A special Chestnut with cloth trim combo was ordered and the car was factory fitted with power steering, air conditioning, tinted electric windows, woodgrain dash and console, power aerial, custom console with cigarette lighter in the rear and the rare steel slide back sunroof. Max Wilson retained the car until early 1975 travelling around 8,500 miles. GMH then offered the car to their dealer network by tender, but as GMH policy at the time was not to sell modified cars to the public they were of course unable to retail the car as a 400ci V8, so GMH fitted a HJ 308 as there were no more 350V8s left. The car was eventually retailed by Garry and Warren Smith Holden, Oakleigh, Victoria. The car has since changed hands a number of times and was purchased in 1999 by a well known HQ Monaro guru in Victoria who was lucky enough to source both of Max Wilsons HQ GTS Monaros and finally after 30 years reunite the original 350 V8 with this car. The special build 350 GTS Monaro Coupe has survived with only an exterior repaint in the original colour. It still retains original trim with all the factory options. Currently running a 350 V8 and factory Turbo 400 transmission, the car also comes with the original 350 V8 block it was delivered with when new (Engine No QU404478K, on crate). A super opportunity to purchase a very rare car, with storied history. Price excludes on road charges in state of eventual delivery. ********* Dealership Sale: - Located in (Brisbane's inner-north) - Open or Enclosed, interstate transport can be arranged - All vehicles delivered with a full tank of premium fuel - Excellent buying experience assured Please call or message anytime.
