Australian delivered R100, bought by my Dad in 1969. Originally bought as a dealer demonstrator (Dad was the local Mazda dealer in the 60's and 70's), then became the family car until the mid 80's. Dad ordered white with a black interior, but there was one with red and white interior available on the very first shipment. He liked it and snapped it up rather than waiting for the next boat. This interior colour is original, it's just not common, so most people are not aware it was an option. It looks far more special than black, in my opinion.
It was parked up in a shed in rural inland NSW for a few decades. Restored with a full respray about 10 or 12 years ago and it's traveled less than 1000km since.
Original engine (rebuilt with new seals), original gearbox and diff only needed a service. Brakes, suspension and just about every other moving part got serviced. Badges, lights, grille and most other things are it's originals, just cleaned up. I'm 99% sure the steel wheels are even its original ones.
I registered it late last year to do a school formal for a friend. This is the first time it's been registered in about 8 or 10 years. After a full service, I did about 20km to check it's reliability and everything appears to be humming along perfectly. It drives beautifully.
If you are a Qld buyer, it will come with its full registration (not club rego) and RWC. Personalised R100 plates can be negotiated for the right price.
I have a photo from the 90's showing its storage and helping to tell the history. I have the original Wheels and Motor magazines from 1969 featuring the R100's first test drives, which can go with the car too.
The only disappointment is that some small bubbles started appearing under the paint about 5 years ago. About 10 in total, most smaller than a 5 cent coin. Photo of bonnet provided. They are mainly on the bonnet and boot, in line with the reinforcing braces. I'm told it was the panel glue they used in the 60's, which was a bit acidic, or something like that. The car hasn't been in the rain in 40 years and in the last 10 years it's been stored covered, indoors and 150km away from the coast, so I really can't explain it.
Give me a call with any questions.
