INTRODUCTION
A rare and highly collectible example of one of the most iconic American muscle cars ever produced, this 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 represents a true piece of motorsport history with a rare opportunity to acquire a documented and beautifully restored example of one of the most legendary Mustangs ever produced.
Produced in extremely limited numbers to homologate Ford’s new 429 cubic-inch V8 for NASCAR competition, the Boss 429 quickly became one of the most sought-after Mustangs ever built. Just 1,359 examples were produced in total, with 859 built in 1969 and 499 in 1970, each assembled and modified by Kar Kraft and assigned a unique NASCAR identification number beginning with "KK".
This particular car, KK 1736, is listed in the official Boss 429 Registry and was previously featured in Mustang Illustrated in April 1991. Power comes from the matching-numbers 429 cubic-inch (7.0-litre) ‘T-Code’ big-block V8, producing approximately 280kW (375bhp) and 610Nm of torque. The engine was too big to fit in a normal mustang engine bay so they had to modify all of them by hand.
In 2010, the car underwent a comprehensive ground-up restoration, with respected Mustang Club of America judge Bill Fioretti, of Mostly Mustangs. Prior to the restoration, the vehicle was inspected by noted specialist Ed Meyer, who reportedly praised its condition and originality.
Following its restoration, the car appeared on the 2010 NAPA Muscle Car calendar cover and has since been regularly invited to prestigious concours and Shelby-related events.

The restoration included a rebuild of the original engine and remains supported by extensive documentation. Most recently serviced in November 2024, this Boss 429 offers both concours-level provenance and mechanical integrity.
?A WORD FROM THE OWNER
"I was on the hunt for 5 years for the pinnacle mustang - a 69 Boss 429. I was pedantic on wanting it as close to factory original as possible. I found this car on consignment at a dealer in Dallas TX whilst I was living in the US. After speaking to many experts on the boss302 forum, the car came back as the real deal, a very original, numbers matching example. The amount of literature, books, and photos of the restoration process put me at ease to purchase the vehicle. I inspected the car in person and it was the one! After some back and forth we came to an agreement and the car was mine. I kept it in the US until I transitioned back to Australia full time. I imported the car in 2016 and it has been in my collection since.
The car has sat in a private fully air controlled warehouse in Melbourne since its arrival. Maintenance wise the car was driven minimally, circa 1-200 miles per year. Servicing has been kept up to date with the car having a full overhaul in late 2024.
The car was started fortnightly and lived on a battery tender. I have made no changes to the car to keep it in numbers matching factory original spec."

MODEL HISTORY
Developed during the peak of the American muscle car arms race, the 1969 Boss 429 was engineered as a homologation special to allow Ford’s new 429 cubic inch semi-hemispherical V8 to compete in NASCAR.
