I’ve owned this Spitfire for around 20 years. It hasn’t been on the road for 10 years! It’s been under wraps in dry garage all this time.
6 months ago I went trough the fuel system and put the jump pack on it and it fired up first hit!! See Video attached. It’s a reliable little bugger.
It’s a survivor which hasn’t been “restored” in it’s life, sure she has a few blemishes and scratches, these just add charm. I can’t find a spot of rust though, very rare in a Pommy car of this age.
Has a Tonneau cover as well as a full soft top with clear windows in great condition, folds nicely into the Boot. I almost never drove it with the top up (6’3” tall !!) But I know it fits.
The mag wheels are not factory, nor are the sash belts - everything else is as it should be. The compliance plate from Qld is for the belts. I put the mags on because the original wheels were flexing too much - time had caught up with them, they had to go. New tyres installed at this time as well.
Carbie’s have been rebuilt to specs, oils have been changed, filters changed and that’s about it. Really reliable car. We used to travel to pubs for lunches with mates (50klm) and the Spitfire loved the twisty roads around the mid Coast.
You will always have a grin when driving this sports car.
