This exceptional matching numbers e has been faithfully restored over the five years I have been custodian.
The speedo reading is 85,180miles / 137,000km (original speedo) + 12,000km (new speedo)
= 149,000km.
The complete motor was professionally overhauled, including rear main seal conversion kit, in May 2024 and has since done 4,500km.
The car is rust free and was fully overhauled by a professional panel beater.
The e was professionally repainted in its original opalescent silver blue in 2023 and is in excellent condition with only minor blemishes.
The upholstery is in excellent condition in its original dark blue with period correct light blue seat piping. The roof lining is new - supplied by BAZ International.
Restoration has remained true to the marque although there have been some upgrades that were considered essential:-
The original seriously outdated 3 speed Borg Warner 8 automatic transmission has been replaced with a 4 speed ZF4HP22 providing improved reliability, performance and economy. The Dellow kit was supplied by Classic and Prestige Jaguar, Brisbane.
The new Smiths speedo, in KPH operates by a sender on the drive shaft as the ZF gearbox doesn’t use a speedo drive.
Reliable air conditioning has been added. Because the Series 1 used a now obsolete W belt pulley system, a decision was made to adopt a 6-groove single serpentine belt and pulleys. A master fitter and turner was employed to manufacture and align the pulleys. The belt can be easily adjusted vertically and is maintained with an automatic tensioner. The AC compressor is therefore in a fixed position and the idler pulleys avoid any risk of belt slip (see photos).
The original all but useless single blade fan has been retained as a spare. A 3,500 CFM electric puller fan and a matching pusher fan have been installed to reduce the risk of overheating. The original radiator has been fully overhauled but kept as a spare as it was replaced with an up-rated aluminium radiator supplied by Martin Robey UK to improve cooling. An aluminium overflow tank has also been added. An Engine Guard temperature warning system has been fitted for added security.
The wheels and tyres (Michelin 205/75 R15) are in excellent condition. There is no pitting in the chrome-work anywhere on the e.
The front and rear brakes have had a major upgrade with new Fosseway aluminium four pot calipers coupled with vented discs to give a huge boost to the braking ability of the car. A fully up-rated Fosseway handbrake kit was included. View their website at - fossewayperformance.co.uk/vented-brake-upgrade.
The original starter motor has been replaced with an up-rated high torque starter.
An adjustable flex plate has been fitted to provide better options for ride height.
An upgraded alternator has also been added.
An Accu spark Stealth electronic ignition has been fitted.
A spin on oil filter kit has been added.
For communication and safety on club runs, a GME UHF radio has been installed.
The clock works! Thanks to an internal electronic upgrade from Clocks4Classics.
The original Blaupunkt radio together with a spare are included in the sale but for convenience and safety, an Axis 1850BT radio has been fitted in the same position allowing Bluetooth connectivity, USB, phone and a reverse camera.
SPAX rear shock absorbers and new springs have been fitted together with adjustable GAZ front shock absorbers.
The sale includes a huge array of valuable spares.
Detailed records have been maintained since purchase.
Queensland personal registration plates may be included in the sale.
Apart from a few obvious exceptions, the attached photos were taken in mid-January 2026.
My e has only been used for Club runs and is on concessional registration which can't be transferred. A Roadworthy Certificate will be provided when sold. It is located in Rockhampton and I will adjust the price to allow for transport.
