1961 model car is and unfinished project, currently in stripped un-assembled condition. Complete and original Mk 2 with overdrive and reclining front seats as optional extras. All parts are packaged and tagged, or boxed for storage. Photos show original purchase and also bare metal strip including restoration work before applying a primed finish to bodywork. Rust has been removed and repairs done to base of A pillar and guards, door skins and boot lid. Outer sills have been replaced.
Mechanically this car has been well maintained and used as a daily driver before restoration began. Major work in the 10 years prior to 2008 includes replacement of all front and rear bushes, new steering ball joints, new front springs, new front and rear rotors and pads, new clutch and master cylinder. Head and carburetors have been reconditioned, with receipts available for this work.
Motor starts and runs well with oil pressure at optimum and compression even for all cylinders at around 160 psi. Gearbox and over drive are later 1965 onwards synchro version, hence serial numbers do not match. Interior is complete including front reclining bucket seats needing re-upholstery. Rear seats are in very good original condition and have been treated with conditioner. Woodwork is in very good condition and complete, needing only minor repair and re-polishing . New door lining panels and head lining is required.
Car is currently not assembled, needs reassembly, undercoat and colour, re-chrome bumpers, carpets and complete rubber kit is required to complete the restoration.
