Comments from the seller

On April 17, 1964, Ford unveiled the Mustang and took 22,000 orders in a single day. It became the most successful car launch in history. It's still the most recognised classic on the road. This is a restored 1965 Hardtop Coupe in a rare Cherry Red over Wimbledon White and red interior. It carries a current Victorian RWC. Transfer rego and drive it home. THE BUILD Restored as a father-and-son project over several years. The priority was doing it properly, not quickly. Every receipt and record of work has been kept since 1965. That kind of documented history is rare on any car, let alone one built in 1965. The 200 cubic-inch inline-six was fully rebuilt with an emphasis on reliability. Paired with the factory Cruise-O-Matic auto, it starts first turn every time, idles clean, no oil leaks, and sounds great through a period-correct exhaust. Speedo converted to KM/H for Australian roads. Modern head unit fitted for a better driving experience without changing the car's character. One small note in the interest of full transparency: there's a minor scuff on one of the seats. Barely noticeable, but worth mentioning. WHY THIS ONE Most '65 Mustangs in Australia are either tired projects needing years of work and serious money, or V8 cars priced from $70,000 to well over $200,000. This one sits in a rare spot: a properly sorted, roadworthy, fully documented Mustang you can actually enjoy this weekend. The '65 is the most iconic year of the most iconic American car ever built. Restored examples with real documentation are getting harder to find. Every year more of them get modified beyond recognition, parted out, or left to rot. INCLUDED . Current Victorian Roadworthy Certificate . Full restoration documentation and receipts from 1965 onward . JHNWIK custom Victorian plates (a nod to John Wick and his famous Mustang, worth approx $4,000, included at no extra cost) AT A GLANCE . 1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop Coupe . Cherry Red exterior . Wimbledon White and red interior . 200ci inline-six, fully rebuilt . Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed auto . Left-hand drive as manufactured . KM/H speedo conversion . Upgraded sound system . Melbourne location $46,000. Inspections welcome by appointment.
