Beautifully restored and exceptionally well-presented 1964 MGB Roadster finished in classic red with black trim, black soft top and chrome wire wheels.
This vehicle underwent a comprehensive ground-up restoration by a classic car restorer in Sydney, with extensive photographic records documenting the rebuild from the last nut and bolt. No corners were cut during the restoration, with significant time, effort and expense invested into returning the car to a beautiful, clean and highly original example.
Powered by the desirable 5-main-bearing engine with 4-speed manual gearbox, the car starts easily, runs beautifully and is an absolute pleasure to drive. I purchased the vehicle directly from the restorer in Sydney in 2020 and personally drove it back to Melbourne without missing a beat — a true testament to how well the car was rebuilt and sorted.
Unlike many MGBs currently on the market, this example has not been poorly patched together, over-modified or filled with hidden rust and cheap cosmetic fixes. Before purchasing this car, I inspected numerous examples and found many to be disappointing underneath the shiny paint — tired interiors, questionable repairs and restorations lacking attention to detail. This car stood out immediately for its honesty, quality and overall presentation.
It retains the beautiful character and simplicity that make early MGBs so appealing, including the original-style steering wheel, clean understated interior and classic factory feel throughout. It is not an overdone or heavily altered car — just a very well-restored, highly usable and genuinely classy example that can be driven and enjoyed immediately.
The vehicle has travelled approximately 12,000km since restoration and has been used sparingly on club registration for occasional sunny-day drives to keep everything exercised and running as intended.
