Daimler 2.5V8 1964. Great spec, being equipped with power steering, and chrome knock off wire wheels.
Interior in near mint condition; leather is superb, consistent with luxury expectations. Wood is absolutely gorgeous and steering wheel in excellent condition. Switches and gauges are all in good shape and work as they should. Headlining is sound and not stained or sagging.
Body presents well. Whilst there are a few marks around it, (it is 62 years old!) it is generally straight and all gaps line up. There is no evidence of any serious accident damage and no rust around the window apertures. Chrome is in very good shape; however, you may wish to replace the rear bar at some stage. (Nothing wrong with it, but there’s some pitting evident.)
Mechanically ok; starts and drives well. Gears shift smoothly and car is quiet and smooth at speed with no obvious rattles or vibrations. Brakes have a nice feel with no shuddering or pulsing. Whilst it’s obvious from condition that the car has been well looked after and maintained over the years, there is no evidence of any engine rebuilds or extensive mechanical work. It could certainly benefit from a refurbishment at some point in the future. Underneath car is dry and rust free but will likely need some rubbers and bushes. This shouldn’t scare anyone though – the Mk2 model is a lot less complicated and less expensive to work on than other Jags of this era.
Comes with original tool kit, and original air filter, should you prefer over the SP250 pancakes. (Personally, I enjoy the induction roar of a classic V8!)
Overall, a very nice car which looks and sounds great and represents pretty good value for a classic car enthusiast. As any Jaguar/Daimler aficionado will know; to fit the chrome wires and restore the interior to this level alone would almost cost my asking price!
Genuine reason for sale – octogenarian owner getting realistic about classic car ownership. Will consider reasonable offers. Happy to assist with interstate buyers. Please note; club plates not transferable and speedo is in miles.
