1964 Aston Martin (DB5/1362/R) -- a unique, rare find with a rich history
I have owned my DB5 Aston Martin for more than 50 years. It is a beautiful, purplish-blue colour with off-white upholstery. It has the original AM cartridge tape player, AM radio, toolkit, jack, keys, owner’s instruction handbook and matching numbers. Athol Guy, a member of the globally famous music group, ‘The Seekers’, purchased the car when he was living in London. He brought the car back to Australia, where he subsequentially became a Member of the Australian Parliament. The next owner was a Melbourne accountant. I am third in this ownership chain. The odometer reading is 77085 miles. The engine has SU carburettors and remains in the original state of tune – no modifications. The gearbox is the original 5 speed ZF unit. The car has been dry stored in a garage, supported on stands and under dust covers for about 20 years. I recognised that I had insufficient time, at that stage of my life, available to drive and enjoy it. 20 years on, I still do not have the time because of my enduring fascination and participation in motor sport. It has none of the rust and chassis corrosion problems that I have seen on DB4, DB5 and DB6 cars which have been imported into Australia from less clement other country environments.
I welcome serious, interested buyers to contact me for further information.
