AUSTIN HEALEY BT7 TRI CARB HBT7L18425 As “Big Healey” enthusiasts will tell you, only a certain number of cars toward the end of the Roadster Series were fitted with triple carbs from factory, so the car could qualify as such in Rally spec. Of these, only a few hundred cars were fitted with the new centre gearshift. This makes this car rather unique and justified the current owner deciding to do a complete ground up restoration, keeping the car as original as possible. A full photo record of the 3 year restoration project, done in conjunction with local Austin Healey specialist JH Classics is available. All the original engine components such as carbs, overdrive, starter, generator etc were restored and body rebuilt on a brand new Kilmartin chassis with all the latest upgrades. Only two mods were made to the delivered specification for safety reasons, one being the addition of a Lockhead brake booster and the other a variable mount front suspension recommended by Kilmartin to allow accurate camber setting. As part of the final fit out, the Owner visited AH Spares in England to check the fine details on sister car VHY 301 which was subject to a major rebuild and feature article. The car comes with all matching numbers and Heritage Certificate and is currently registered on a Healey Club registration. It has seen minimal usage since the rebuild was completed in late 2018 and would be an ideal investment to appreciate and enjoy club days.
