Ignition / Key References Recorded on Kardex
All Porsche 356 models were fully manufactured and assembled in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany. No overseas CKD or local assembly programs existed for the 356 series. This vehicle was exported complete to South Africa.
3. Restoration & Current Presentation
The vehicle has undergone a comprehensive restoration completed to an exceptional standard. The restoration reflects meticulous attention to structural integrity, finish quality, and period-correct detailing.
The car is currently presented in White with a Red interior. While differing from its original Rubinrot/Black specification, this colour combination is period-correct and consistent with authentic Porsche finishes available during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
The restoration maintains historical integrity while presenting the vehicle in a highly desirable and visually striking configuration.
4. Collector Significance & Market Positioning
Chassis 109238 represents an early production example of the 356B T5 series. Right-hand drive vehicles were produced in limited numbers, with South African deliveries representing a small fraction of total production.
The presence of the original Kardex substantially strengthens provenance and authenticity. Although no longer matching-numbers due to the installation of a factory Super 90 engine, the vehicle retains period-correct mechanical specification.
In collector markets, examples with documented factory provenance and high-level restoration standards remain highly regarded, particularly when supported by primary archival documentation.
