I’ve owned this beautiful MGA for fifteen years, and I won’t pretend selling her is easy. But at eighty, getting down into that low seat has become a battle I’m losing — and she deserves better than sitting in the garage.
She’s a 1959 MGA 1500, finished in the most glorious MG red you’ve ever seen. Deep, rich, glossy — and all original. Every panel, every detail exactly as she should be. The kind of car that turns heads at the servo and starts conversations with strangers.
Step inside and the red leather seats greet you like an old friend — ribbed, immaculate, matching the exterior perfectly. The wire spoke wheels wear their chrome centres with pride. The front grille, headlight surrounds, bumpers — all gleaming. She’s not just preserved. She’s cherished.
At 70,000 km she had a full engine rebuild — done properly, the way these old girls deserve. She’s only done 14,000 km since. She pulls beautifully. She sounds magnificent.
For fifteen years she’s lived in the garage — dry, sheltered, never left to the elements. Not once. We did the MG club weekends together. Early morning runs when the air was still crisp and the roads were empty — scarf on, roof down, wicker picnic basket loaded in the back, not a care in the world. Autumn drives down country lanes. Sunday mornings that turned into the best part of the week. I came home smiling every single time.
That’s what this car does. She doesn’t just go from A to B. She makes you feel something.
I’m not looking for the highest offer. I’m looking for the right home. Someone who’ll take her to the club days and the Sunday runs and the picnics — and come home smiling, just like I did.
