I have owned and enjoyed this, my Vanden Plas Princess DS7, since acquiring it in 1990. It is registered in NSW, Australia, as AUS135.
I have to sell it because I can no longer maintain it, this because of my age and health,
I am looking for someone who would like one of these very rare vehicles, who can take it off my hands.
Apart from wear and tear, AUS135 is very original. That is because since acquiring her, she has always been dry and dark stored, and, apart from workshop experiences, has never, since she came into my hands, been involved in an accident.
If you acquire AUS135, you will find that it comes with all that was worth keeping from a donor car. This was one that I acquired from Dufton Kitchen in the UK when he was selling off his extensive Princess and Sheerline replacement parts business, some decades ago.
As I broke the donor car down, I progressively built mobile racks for them and have since dry and dark stored them. There are three mobile racks and you can see and read about them in the brochure. They are quite mobile because they came from my previous address on the back of a tabletop tow truck.
In 1990 we purchased AUS135 from a South African Gentleman who had imported it to Australia via the USA. It was built by 25-06-1957. but was still in the hands of the Austin Motor Co until 26-09-1957, when they shipped it to the South African dealer. During this time AMC used it for promotional purposes.
In our ownership, its usage has been car club events, family weddings and pleasure, and apart from the above period with AMC, it is unlikely that it was ever exposed to salt laden icy winter roads. Certainly not in Australia.
Why is AUS135 being sold? Simply, because at the age of 83, I have become too old for restoration and maintenance.
NSW Motor Vehicle Registration runs to 29th June 2026. ODO: c.15500 miles
Paint Colours: Beige Metallic over Peat Brown Duotone
Upholstery: Beige vaumol hide
Most serious problems with AUS135: 1. Original Engine Dipstick was stolen. Currently it is from an Austin A125. Driving and maintaining the way I do, this has not been a problem, because mileage has been low and oil has been changed regularly.
2. Engine oil seals need to be attended to.
3. An accident with our car hoist has caused the Engine Bonnet to be partially distorted.
4. Driver's and front seat passengers seats need backrest restoration. Otherwise, wear and tear should be obvious.
Aus135 comes with all the parts that could be saved from Donor Car:
Major Parts Kept Are As Follows on Wheeled Racks:
Rack 1: Engine, Gearbox, Tailshaft, Rear Axle including Brakes and Suspension, Front Suspension and Hubs and front Brakes,
Rack 2: Other miscellaneous parts that could be saved, not including:
Rack 3 : The following body parts that were worth keeping:
Bonnet, four Doors, Boot Lid, four Wheels. Wind Screen + Rear Window (both in Wooden box)
Parts Not Kept After Being Broken Down for Storage:
Chassis (Severely rusted), Cab (Roof staved in), Front Mud Guards & Headlights (See photo) and a few broken bits and pieces.
Given the condition when bought, the rest of the vehicle may have been complete.
The Racks & Parts have been dry stored since dismantling.
AUS135 is still a pleasant drive and given it's background and condition, worth maintaining. I can e-mail the brochure to you.
