The Austin Healey is one of the truly great sports cars of the 1950’s. Stunning bodywork was combined with Austin’s 2.6-litre four-cylinder engine for a potent recipe. The plucky little sportster became the quintessential British sports car and is hugely admired worldwide to this day. This particular car was built on 3rd June, 1954 and delivered new to Sydney. The original “Larke Hoskins Coachbuilders” delivery plate is secured to the bulkhead. It started life “spruce green” with green leather trim and then changed to “ice blue” with black trim. It had one owner for nearly 50 years and underwent a full restoration in 1996 using a world-renowned coachbuilder trained by Bugatti. Black body with Italian red leather trim was chosen. It won “Best BN1” at Concourse in Sydney in 2013 and was a finalist in the 2019 Motorclassica in the post-war classic open. It won the “Best Post Vintage” trophy at the Flinders Car Show in 2021 and the “Traders Award” at the Maling Road car show in 2022. This car was also chosen to escort Lewis Hamilton in the Melbourne Grand Prix parade lap in 2023. The engine was recently completely rebuilt by the Healey Factory, concluding the restoration of this fabulous motoring icon.
