This XK120 convertible was the 3rd convertible made [677003 chassis ] and was sent to Hornburg's Dealership in Los Angeles for the release of the convertible model in March 1953. It was recently restored and has traveled only 19759 miles.
A heritage certificate verifies the date of manufacture and car details, and the certificate , and a genuine service manual are included in the sale.
It has been converted to RHD , and it 's value lies in the fact that it is the third one made.
It has recently completed the RACV Rally and gone to the Adelaide Nationals , without failure.
It completed the sporting events at the Nationals as the fastest XK entered.
It was probably owned by some one famous but its original owner is not known to the seller.
It is perhaps the oldest XK120 DHC surviving.
It has some racing history in Lafayette, USA, and was imported in to Australia more than 20 years ago.
It is painted in Old English White , Has a new black roof [ imported from USA ] and has Biscuit Full Leather interior.
This 1953 Jaguar XK120 has the highest levels of refinement, it is quiet and effortless to drive, and at the time the Jaguar XK120 was the fastest production sports car in the world.
This car will excite the driver with its effortless speed and acceleration and it handles and stops better than most modern cars.
The car has Air conditioning and and heating and comes with the world famous twin overhead camshaft engine 3.4 L high output engine and 5 speed Gearbox
The differential is a Limited Slip 3.07:1 unit offering economy over 30 MPG [10 litre/100 km].
Brakes use all modern high performance linings which provide excellent stopping.
The car has no overheating issues and easily tolerates modern driving speeds and slow traffic with the air conditioning operating.
The car comes also spare parts being ,with the original block [matching number] and original head and a moss 4 speed gearbox , at no additional cost, should the purchaser wish to have complete originality. The original block ,head and moss gearbox are not reconditioned and in poor condition compared with the car.
During the restoration the body was sand blasted to bare metal and an epoxy undercoat and 2 pack top coats were professionally applied to give a long wearing high gloss finish.
Most mechanical parts have been restored or replaced with new. Wheels including the spare are all new and the tires are Pirelli 195/16.
Exhaust system is very quiet and stainless from the chassis penetration to the rear and is twin polished 50mm.
It will come with a roadworthy certificate [ if sold to Queensland buyer ] ,so you don't have to do the running around.
Queensland full Registration has been paid until Feb 2026
