This is a 1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe (FHC), not just any, but number 99 of only 194 produced by Jaguar in RHD (Chassis No 669099, Engine No W 9996-7, Gear box JL19495, Body J3356, JDH Certificate verified).
Delivered new to Dominion Motors, Adelaide in December 1953 and sold to it's first owner in February 1954. Ownership history from new until the current owner acquired the car is outlined in the Elmgreen/McGrath book "The XK 120 in the Southern Hemisphere". (Further details are available on the website xkdata.com).
Discovered by the current owner in 2012, having been stored for almost 40 years. The car was almost complete, but in a sad state of repair (see photos).
Following the purchase, owner commenced a complete nut and bolt restoration to a specification that would enable the car to be driven in todays road and traffic conditions. Therefore various mechanical upgrades have been incorporated (although all the original items replaced are available with the car), these include, alternator, electronic ignition, high torque starter motor, alloy radiator and expansion tank and electric fan. As can be seen from the photos, the car has the complete tool kit and operating manual (service manual can also be available).
Numerous tours have been undertaken in the car and it is a highly reliable grand tourer and a pleasure to drive. It has the ability to be a show car, a driver or a significant addition to a collection. The car is on historical registration which cannot be transferred. Very regrettable sale, reasonable offers will be considered.
The vehicle can be inspected in Tenterfield or Ballina area.
